Rust Repair
Rust is one of the most common vehicle problems in New Brunswick, especially on daily-driven cars exposed to winter conditions.
Some rust is cosmetic. Some affects strength and safety. The right repair depends on severity, location, and what’s hiding underneath the surface. We inspect first, explain realistic options, and confirm scope before starting work.
Rocker panel rust repair (most requested service)
Rocker panel rust is the most common rust issue we see. Because severity varies widely, we offer tiered repair options so customers can choose what makes sense for their vehicle, budget, and long-term plans.
Rocker Panel Repair Options
Best for: Students, budget repairs, short-term cosmetic improvement
- Rust hole filling (fiberglass-based repair)
- Surface preparation
- Paint blend for visual improvement
- Cosmetic repair only
- Does not restore structural strength
- Does not stop internal corrosion
- Longevity varies and is not guaranteed
Best for: Contained rust damage where metal repair is still localized
- Cutting out affected rocker sections
- Welding and replacing damaged metal
- Structural integrity restored in the repaired area
- Entire rocker panel is not replaced
- Rust protection of unseen areas is not guaranteed
Cosmetic note: Paint blending and finish level affect final pricing.
Best for: Extensive rust confined to outer rocker panels
- Replacement of both outer rocker panels
- Proper metal prep and repair
- Paint blend to match surrounding panels
- Inner structural components are not included
- Best balance of durability and cost when rust is widespread but not structural
Best for: Advanced rust affecting structure and safety
- Replacement of outer rocker panels
- Structural repair of inner rocker panels
- Repair of lifting points and affected inner floor sections
Structural rust repair scope is confirmed only after inspection. Additional damage may be discovered once repairs begin.
Other rust repair types (non-rocker areas)
Fiberglass hole filling (cosmetic)
Used for non-structural rust and cosmetic areas where metal integrity is acceptable. Focuses on appearance, not structure.
Cut & weld repair
Used for structural or advanced rust where metal integrity is compromised. Damaged metal is removed and repaired or replaced properly. We’ll tell you straight when welding is necessary — and when cosmetic repair isn’t worth doing.
What affects rust repair cost
Rust repair pricing depends on scope and condition:
- Depth of corrosion
- Size of affected area
- Structural vs non-structural location
- Access and labor time
- Paint and finishing requirements
No work begins without confirming scope.
Expectations
- Rust repair is about stopping spread and restoring integrity, not hiding rust.
- Some repairs last longer than others depending on vehicle condition.
- We’ll tell you if a repair is not worth doing.
No pressure. No upselling repairs that don’t make sense.
